We have been hard at work behind the scenes at Mycelium, and have released a new feature, as well as have some updates on our progress.
We are expanding our options for people to obtain bitcoins right from within their wallet. A few years ago we launched our own built-in P2P alternative to LocalBitcoins called LocalTrader (“Mycelium Marketplace” in the app), then added support for Cashila for our European users, and more recently Glidera (congratulations on being acquired by Kraken!). Now we’re excited to announce the integration of our Mycelium Wallet with our Mycelium Swish service to allow you to buy bitcoins directly from your phone using your credit card! The service is still being improved, so it might be a bit rough around the edges, but it will get better with time. We are also adding two more options for buying bitcoin from within our wallet, but those won’t be announced until they’re ready.
With regards to other progress, we had to take care of some issues not related to the new wallet along the way, such as issues with fee calculations during the mempool flood and some other minor optimizations, but we are still making progress on the new wallet too. Colu support is finally going through testing stages, as is our SPV module, and UI implementation is coming along as well. We hope to possibly have some of that available to our beta testers by the end of this month, but with the holidays coming up we can’t really make that promise. However, Mycelium will be in attendance at the North American Bitcoin Conference in Miami on January 17th and 18th, and we definitely plan to show some of our new stuff there, as well as have a few more features to announce and release.
